What Is A Full Size Comforter?
Full size comforters generally measure 81 x 88 plus or minus a couple inches. Full bed comforters are designed to fit on a full mattress/bed frame. Full size also goes by the name "double" or "Full/Double".
Due to stores decreasing their product assortments it is getting harder to find a true full size comforter. What is generally available is a full/queen comforter which is not bad - just slightly bigger. If you have a full size platform bed or want a clean look we recommend buying a true full size comforter.
Full size quilts and bedspreads are comparable to what we call blankets the exception being they are extra long on the sides to hide or cover the bed. Generally our full size blankets run bigger then a comforter and some are meant to be tucked under the mattress.
For usage in a child's room we recommend easy care fabrics and lighter fills - our favorite choice is our PrimaLoft Luxury Down Alternative. We do not recommend trying to use a twin on a full bed.
What size bedding can be used on a full bed?
Because full size beds are wider then a twin and smaller then a queen - the sized bedding used needs to be specific to the mattress size. Items like sheet sets, mattress pads and feather beds should be made for a full size mattress. You can use a slightly larger comforter or blanket on your full bed if it is marked as a full/queen or even queen in some cases.
